Washington, DC – The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today announced it earned the Association of Government Accountants Certificate of Excellence in Accountability Reporting (CEAR) award for the CFTC’s 2007 Performance and Accountability Report.

The CEAR award recognizes outstanding accountability reporting and is the highest form of recognition in Federal government management reporting. The award ceremony will be held at the Washington, DC, Press Club on May 21, 2008.

“The CFTC is committed to transparent and reliable accountability reporting. Receiving this prestigious award for a second year in a row is an honor and recognizes the dedication, teamwork, and collaboration of the CFTC’s talented staff,” Acting CFTC Chairman Walter Lukken said.

An excerpt from the notification letter sent to the CFTC stated:

“…We are proud to award CFTC the recognition its hard work deserves. Hopefully, with your sustained leadership and commitment, the CFTC PAR will continue this series of awards and serve as a model for excellent reporting by other agencies.”

The CFTC was one of 17 federal agencies to receive the CEAR award in 2008.
