Commissioner Pham Announces Agenda for the Upcoming Global Markets Advisory Committee Meeting on November 6
At this meeting, the GMAC will receive four recommendations to advance to the Commission from the GMAC Global Market Structure Subcommittee and the GMAC Technical Issues Subcommittee for a total of eight recommendations. There will also be an update from the GMAC Digital Asset Markets Subcommittee and presentations on Basel III and a recent ISDA Paper. The formal agenda is here. Commissioner Goldsmith Romero Announces July 18 Technology Advisory Committee Meeting
The Technology Advisory Committee held a meeting on July 18, 2023.  At this meeting, the TAC will continue its examination of responsible artificial intelligence (AI), focusing on the use of AI in the financial sector.  Decentralized finance (DeFi) models such as decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) and the Commission’s recent Ooki DAO case will be discussed, in addition to other DeFi issues. We will also discuss cyber resilience, including cyber threats to the financial sector, as well as a presentation by a prudential regulator on the recently released interagency guidance on third party cyber risk.  Along with artificial intelligence, decentralized finance, and cyber resilience, the TAC will introduce the three subcommittees approved by the Commission. This includes the newly constituted subcommittees on: (1) Digital Assets and Blockchain Technology; and (2) Emerging and Evolving Technologies; as well as the re-established (3) Cybersecurity Subcommittee. At this meeting, the GMAC will focus on topics related to U.S. Treasury market reforms, swap block thresholds, and tokenization of assets. The GMAC will also address procedural matters, including topics of discussion on a forward-looking basis. A formal agenda will be announced before the meeting. The Market Risk Advisory Committee to Meet on July 10
The Market Risk Advisory Committee will hold a public meeting on July 10, 2023. At this meeting, the MRAC will share updates from the CCP Risk and Governance Subcommittee on the Subcommittee’s workstreams on CCP Resolution and Recovery; Margin and Collateral Guidelines; and Technology and Operations. The Market Structure Subcommittee will share updates regarding the Subcommittee’s workstreams on block implementation rules, FCM concentration and capacity, U.S. Treasury market reform, and post-trade risk reduction. The Interest Rate Benchmark Reform Subcommittee will share a final report regarding the transition away from LIBOR. An expert panel and MRAC members will continue to explore issues arising in digital asset markets with a focus on the risks associated with market structure concerns including custody, conflicts of interest, and vertical integration in digital asset markets. Finally, the Climate-Related Market Risks Subcommittee will share an update on the development of carbon markets and discuss the recent Integrity Council Report, here.
