The CFTC’s Office of External Affairs Hosts an Eastern European Delegation of Financial Executives

On July 22 the CFTC's Office of External Affairs (OEA) hosted a briefing session for a delegation of 14 East European financial executives, visiting the United States under the East Central European Scholarship Program, administered by Georgetown University and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, with USAID funding.

The participants, pictured outside of the CFTC's Washington headquarters, represent financial institutions in Albania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, and Romania. Participating in briefing to the delegation were: OEA's Dennis Holden, who provided an overview of the Commission and its regulatory activities; Chief Economist James Overdahl, who covered current regulatory issues; and Steven Benton of the Division of Market Oversight, who discussed financial futures.

As part of its educational and visitors program, the OEA conducts numerous briefing sessions for financial market executives, Congressional staff members, domestic and foreign representatives of the media, market professionals, producer groups, and academic representatives to acquaint them with the Commission's regulatory activities and responsibilities.
