Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Global Markets Advisory Committee to Meet November 7, 2012

Committee to discuss cross-border issues related to OTC derivatives reform implementation

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) will convene a meeting of its Global Markets Advisory Committee (GMAC) on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, to obtain the views of international regulators, futures industry professionals, and market participants on cross-border issues related to OTC derivatives reform implementation. There will be two panels, the first featuring regulators from around the globe and the second featuring GMAC members.

GMAC was established in 1998 and is comprised of individuals representing various U.S. and foreign exchanges, self-regulatory organizations, intermediaries, market users and traders, with extensive experience and expertise involving global futures markets issues.

The Commission is pleased to host this meeting of GMAC which will include participation from the SEC, and a number of international regulators from Asia, Australia, Europe and North America.

CFTC Commissioner Jill E. Sommers, the primary sponsor of the advisory committee, is pleased to announce that the Commission has appointed Ronald H. Filler to serve as the new chairman of GMAC.  Professor Filler currently serves as the Director of the Center on Financial Services Law at the New York Law School.

The meeting is open to the public. The meeting will be webcast via the internet and audio of the meeting will be available via a listen-only conference call.
