CFTC Announces the Appointment of
Ananda K. Radhakrishnan as Director,
Division of Clearing & Intermediary Oversight

Washington, D.C. – Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced today the appointment of Ananda K. Radhakrishnan as Director, Division of Clearing and Intermediary Oversight (DCIO) effective October 2, 2005.

Mr. Radhakrishnan has most recently served as Legal Counsel and Advisor to the Chairman on legal, regulatory, and policy issues affecting the CFTC, with specific emphasis on clearing and market oversight and enforcement matters.

In announcing the appointment of Mr. Radhakrishnan, Chairman Jeffery said, “Ananda’s in-depth knowledge of clearing and risk management issues, the Commodity Exchange Act and CFTC regulations, make him a valuable asset to the CFTC.”

As Director, Division of Clearing and Intermediary Oversight, Mr. Radhakrishnan will serve as the principal policy advisor in the determination and public advocacy of CFTC policies and procedures in planning the direction, focus, and accomplishments of DCIO programs and related activities. In addition, he has been charged with promoting an effective, flexible oversight environment responsive to continually evolving market conditions.

Prior to joining the CFTC, Mr. Radhakrishnan worked for seven years at the Clearing House Division of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Inc. (CME), where he was responsible for strategic and risk management planning and project management for the CME clearinghouse. He also worked on initiatives such as cross-margining and mutual offset arrangements and the clearinghouse credit facility.

In accepting his appointment, Mr. Radhakrishnan said, “I am gratified at the confidence placed in me by Chairman Jeffery. The Division of Clearing and Intermediary Oversight plays a vital role in fulfilling the CFTC’s regulatory mission. I am fortunate that the Division is comprised of very talented and knowledgeable professionals and I look forward to working with them to effectively discharge our responsibilities.”

Mr. Radhakrishnan received his law degree from the National University of Singapore Law School and his graduate degree in Finance/Marketing from the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University.
