CFTC Chairman Gary Gensler Announces the Appointment of Scott Schneider as Director of Public Affairs

Washington, DC — The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today announced the appointment of Scott Schneider to serve as Director of Public Affairs.

Mr. Schneider comes to the CFTC from the United States Senate, where he most recently served as Communications Director for the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, chaired by Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La. In that capacity, Schneider served as senior communications advisor to Chairwoman Landrieu and the Committee’s principal spokesperson.

“Scott brings a wide range of experience in government to the CFTC, and we look forward to him joining our team,” CFTC Chairman Gary Gensler said. “Scott’s knowledge of effective communications strategies, including utilizing both traditional and new media, will be an asset to the CFTC as we work to modernize regulatory oversight of the futures and options markets.

Prior to joining the Senate Small Business Committee staff, Schneider served as press secretary for Senator Landrieu’s re-election campaign. Schneider also brings significant speechwriting experience to the CFTC.

A native of New Orleans, Schneider received a BA degree in government from the University of Redlands.
