CFTC Seeks Public Comment on Exemption Request from the Chicago Board of Trade Involving Denatured Fuel Ethanol Swaps and Options

Washington, DC – The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is requesting public comment on a petition submitted by the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) in connection with certain contracts cleared through the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) on behalf of CBOT.

Specifically, CBOT is requesting that the Commission issue an order under Section 4d of the Commodity Exchange Act that would permit CME and clearing member futures commission merchants to commingle customer funds used to margin, secure, or guarantee specified over-the- counter (OTC) contracts in Denatured Fuel Ethanol with other funds held in the segregated account.

Comments regarding the exemption request should be submitted on or before April 8, 2008.

Comments may be submitted electronically to [email protected]. All comments received will be posted on the Commission’s website.
