CFTC Announces Appointment of Terry Arbit as Acting General Counsel

Washington, D.C. – The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced today the appointment of Terry Arbit as Acting General Counsel, effective immediately. Mr. Arbit was also recently named the Deputy General Counsel for Regulation and Administration. Prior to that, Mr. Arbit served as Counsel to Chairman Reuben Jeffery.

Mr. Arbit received joint M.A. and B.A. degrees in 1980 from the University of Pennsylvania (Summa Cum Laude) and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Chicago Law School in 1983. After graduating from law school, Mr. Arbit clerked for the Honorable Charles L. Levin of the Supreme Court of Michigan. He has been practicing law in private practice and government service for more than 22 years, spending the last 11 years at the CFTC in a variety of legal positions.
